Zero carb is when you eat only animal product such as meat, fish, and eggs, eliminating carbs and processed foods from you diet. Some people consider zero carb a stricter form of keto. I tried Keto and couldn’t stick to it because I don’t like vegetables, so this way of eating works better for me.

On a zero carb diet you eat only animal based foods such as beef, pork, & chicken. Eggs, butter & dairy are also included. Some people can tolerate dairy while others can not. Kerrygold butter is the bomb! You should drink water and limit coffee. Don’t forget your salt and/or electrolytes. A great way to get more information is to read Dr. Shawn Bakers’ book The Carnivore Diet. It’s an excellent read.

Zero carb is a program where you really need to listen to your body and learn what’s best for you. This is not a quick fix weight loss plan. I am in no way offering medical advice. I am simply telling you what I am doing & what works for me.

Should I try Zero-Carb?

Again, that is up to you. If you’d like more information, Dr. Ken Berry has a YouTube video that talks about the Carnivore Diet for beginners. Dr. Berry has many informative videos about the carnivore lifestyle. I will warn you that his titles may fool you.

Let me know if you decide to join me on this journey or you have been down the zero carb / carnivore road for a while now. I’d love to hear from you.

Prior to starting my zero carb life style I had been praying to God for help. I was morbidly obese, I had shoulder, hip and knee pain on a daily basis. I was on blood pressure medicine and the doctor was trying to put me on a statin for cholesterol. I was depressed and worried that this was how I was going to spend the rest of my life. I was praying for answers to all of my problems.

I always strive to wake up with praise and thankfulness to God every morning. This keeps me focused on Him and not myself. But one morning in March 2021, I woke up remembering Kelly Hogan on the cover of Woman’s World. I believe this was my nudge from the Lord. He had put this in my mind and on my heart. I was almost startled by how clear this was to me, you have to realize those that are carb addicted live in a continuous brain fog. I remembered Kelly talking about not eating carbs and I wondered if I could do without carbs too? I decided to look up Kelly and get more information.

The Lord makes everything fall in to place and His timing is always perfect.

The week this all came about was a week I happened to have taken PTO to spend some time with my daughter, who was home on Spring Break. That day, Emily went to see her dad and I spent the entire day watching every YouTube video Kelly had ever made. If you’ve never watched one of Kelly’s videos you are really missing out, she is a hoot. I felt like I had learned so much and that I was ready to give zero carb a try. I started the very next day, on March 31, 2021 and I haven’t looked back.

As of today’s wrting I have been on this path for 6 months and 19 days. My joint pain is almost nonexsistent and I have never felt better. The doctor has taken me off my blood pressure meds and was thrilled with my weight loss so far. He also told me to keep up the good work. I’m so thankful to the Lord for showing me this way of life.

What about you? Are you looking for a change? Join me as I share my zero carb life with you.

I believe talents are a gift from God. I believe you should use these gifts to bless others and to glorify God.

I don’t feel they have to be some major thing but, can also be the small things we do daily. There’s also no need to be ashamed of them.

So, what do I think my talents are?

  • being thankful
  • singing
  • being kind and gentle
  • cooking & baking
  • determined
  • crocheting
  • sense of humor
  • paying attention to small blessings
  • smiling

Reviewing my list gives me a warm, fussy & happy feeling. I can think of ways I have used every one of these talents to bless others.

I know I will never sing or perform stand-up comedy on a huge stage, before 100s of people. I love singing in our small country church and putting a smile on the faces of those around me.

I know I will never bake the ultimate wedding cake or serve a grand dish to a restaurant full of people and that is fine by me. I am content cooking for my family and those around me.

I am thankful that God has put me where I am, to use the talents He gave me, to be a blessing to others.

“Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.” II Corinthians 9:15

I’m starting off my blog post from a list of daily prompts. I feel this will help get the juices flowing and help me work on my writing skills. I hope you enjoy these.

Right now, my favorite kitchen item is my George Foreman grill. I liked it so well I bought my daughter one for her apartment.

This is the third grill I’ve owned. Like many of you, I started out with the small white one, from when they first came out. I rarely used it because it was so hard to clean. Next, I upgraded to one with removeable plates. This was much better for cleaning but, over time the coating on the plates began to come off and it took forever to heat up.

Then this past December I decided to get a new one. I have never cooked on an outside grill and I was really missing homemade hamburgers, so this seemed like the most logical choice. I looked, read reviews and finally decided on the George Foreman Rapid Grill. This grill has made me very happy.

The grill has variable temperature control & titanium infused plates. What does that mean? It means I can cook foods like hamburger & sausage without the inside of the meat being under cooked while the outside is over cooked. It means that if I choose, I can put the plates in the dishwasher. It means I am using my grill 3 or more time a week and loving it!
